Acceptable use policy

1. Why this exists

Your site shares a server with other customers. This policy protects them, protects you, and keeps the server off the blocklists that would hurt everyone on it. It forms part of the Terms of service between you and Prestige Technology Solutions Pty Ltd (ABN 58 696 082 096). If anything here is unclear, ask before you do it.

2. Content you may not host

You may not use the Services to store, publish or transmit content that:

• is unlawful in Australia, or that would be unlawful for us to host, including child sexual abuse material, material that incites violence or terrorism, and material that breaches the Online Safety Act 2021 (Cth);
• infringes someone else’s copyright, trade mark or other intellectual property, including pirated software, media or “nulled” themes and plugins;
• is defamatory, harassing, or discloses another person’s private information without consent;
• is designed to deceive, including phishing pages, fake login forms, counterfeit goods or investment scams; or
• contains malware, or links to it, or is used to distribute it.

3. Email and spam

We do not provide mailboxes, but sites can send mail (for example, a contact form). Anything you send from our servers must comply with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth): it must be sent with consent, identify you accurately and include a working unsubscribe mechanism. In particular you may not:

• send unsolicited bulk email from a hosted site, or run a mailing-list service from it;
• send email with forged headers or a misleading sender;
• host a site that is advertised by spam sent from anywhere else; or
• harvest email addresses.

Outbound mail from the server is rate-limited and monitored. A site that starts sending large volumes of mail will be paused while we check with you.

4. Fair use of shared resources

Storage and monthly transfer are hard limits and are shown in your dashboard. CPU, memory and processes are shared, and we ask that you use them the way an ordinary website does. The following are not allowed on shared hosting because they are unfair to the other sites on the server:

• cryptocurrency mining or any other sustained computation unrelated to serving your website;
• running bots, scrapers, proxies, VPNs, game servers, IRC or other long-running daemons;
• using the account as file storage, a backup target or a download mirror rather than to serve a website;
• scripts that run continuously, or cron jobs more often than every few minutes, without talking to us first; and
• anything that repeatedly triggers our resource protection.

If a site legitimately outgrows shared hosting, we will tell you and help you work out what to do next. That conversation happens before any suspension, unless the server is at immediate risk.

5. Security

• Keep the software on your site updated. If a site is compromised because of unpatched software, we may take it offline until it is cleaned, and we will tell you what we found.
• Do not attempt to access other customers’ accounts, files or databases, or any part of the server you have not been given access to.
• Do not run scans, penetration tests or load tests against the Services without our written agreement.
• Do not share your credentials with anyone you would not trust with your site.

6. What happens if this policy is breached

For most problems we email you, explain what we found and give you a reasonable time to fix it. Where content is clearly illegal, where a site is actively attacking others or sending spam, or where the server is at risk, we will suspend the site first and email you straight after. Repeated or serious breaches may result in your account being closed under section 6 of the Terms of service, and we will cooperate with law enforcement where required.

7. Reporting abuse

If you believe a site hosted with us breaches this policy, email hello@prestigehosting.com.au with the domain and what you found. We look at every report.
